Professional Development Speaker BIO
Presenter Bio: Dan Tuten, PMP, MCSE is the former Chair of the PMI IT & Telecom SIG. He is employed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States as an IT Project Manager responsible for the computer systems delivering processing for multiple business units. He has had speaking engagements in much of the US and Canada as well as international audiences with PMI’s Global Congresses and Leadership Institute Meetings in EMEA. He is a graduate of and guest facilitator for the PMI Leadership Institute Master’s Class.
Project Management for Dan began with the Department of Defense and an Army career that would lead through several assignments and project management challenges. These learning experiences included logistics, IT and planning endeavors, which in turn, allowed him a solid base of experience to take into the private sector. His project management skills were honed to perfection through planning, implementing and managing several IT, telecom and support projects at companies ranging from startups through midsize to Fortune 500. His projects have included CRM, PBX, and support implementations; system, network and telecom upgrades and/or replacements; as well as network, system and software designs.As a volunteer with PMI, Dan has served with Chapters in Chicago, IL and Atlanta, GA as well as both the IT & Telecom SIG and the ISSIG. He was elected to the IT & Telecom SIG board of directors in 2003 and held positions as both Vice-Chair and Chair of that organization consisting of more than 6000 members worldwide dedicated to excellence in ICT project management. He was also selected to serve with PMI’s Community Transformation Project (CTP), an effort to mold the PMI of tomorrow with selected high quality leaders of today and went on to provide direct Project Management expertise for Phase I of the Virtual Communities Project (VCP). He was and founding member of and now serves on the Virtual Communities Advisory group, the group responsible for the strategic advice to PMI Global Operations Center and the PMI Board of Directors.
