Brian Abeyta, Rick Morris and Traci Duez

Keynote speaker Brian Abeyta:

Brian Abeyta, Vice President, IT Project Management Office for Aflac Incorporated. Mr. Abeyta is responsible for guiding the overall direction of the IT Project Management Office. He manages all aspects of the design, development, and implementation of projects within the IT division and for IT’s internal customers.  He’s also responsible for actively participating in long-range strategy planning and managing policy development to address complex business issues.

Mr. Abeyta joined Aflac in February 2001 as a senior corporate project manager and was promoted to his current position in 2007. Prior to joining Aflac, he worked as a project manager with BellSouth Entertainment in Atlanta. In this capacity, he was responsible for the development and build-out of a satellite dish-farm, cable head-end, and transmitter to support wireless deployment of video in the Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville markets. Immediately, prior to joining Aflac he gained additional Project Management Office experience while directing the PrePaid Project Management Office at Cingular Wireless managing the system development of a new prepaid billing platform for the IT division.

He is a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate.  He spent eight years on Air Force active duty in a variety of operational and staff positions as a Communications and Computer Systems Officer where he worked with voice, data, video, and satellite communications.

Mr. Abeyta holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He also is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Rick Morris:

Project managers are routinely faced with dilemmas. Dilemmas such as sponsors mandating unreachable dates, teams unable to give reliable estimates, changing priorities and scope, and a myriad of other issues. The reactions to these issues generally range from utter frustration to apathy. The reactions then lead to emotional conversations such as “We can’t possibly do this by then!” or “The Sponsor doesn’t understand!” Finally, there is an approach that is applicable whether you are the leader of a PMO, or just a single project manager trying to do things right! Rick Morris introduces Project Management That Works! If there is only one seminar you can attend this year, this is the one for you! Rick will take his time tested successful approach and break it down for you in manageable pieces so that you can not only learn each concept, but also be able to apply it immediately after the seminar. This will not be the latest fad or psychology, but a simple, time-tested, experience based method to communicate with the entire project team from  takeholders to team members.

Ricks books will be available for purchase at the event.
