He has over 19 years of business and technology leadership, and IT strategy development and implementation experience. He joined Aflac in November 2007 as an officer in their Information Technology Organization. I will appreciate your help regarding this matter. I will also be happy to share the summary survey results, if requested by your chapter. Thanks, Michael Bird (South Florida Chapter PMI Member - #1025946) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Dear potential participant, This is an invitation to participate in research being conducted by Michael Bird (member of the South Florida Chapter) under the supervision of John Whitlock, Ph.D. at Capella University, as part of the fulfillment process of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. This study explores the opinions, thoughts, and actual experiences of software project managers working with application software projects that used one of the agile development methodologies. The study objective is to discover if and how agile development methods lead to the following: (a) shorter project duration leading to faster user benefit, (b) maintenance of quality during the development within shorter duration periods, and (c) the ability to remain flexible to adapt to business environmental changes of strategy. Also, the survey will identify the methods that appear to be easier to deploy and better accomplish the intended objectives. The survey will ascertain the difficulties in changing culture while moving from a traditional approach in software development to an agile approach, including management, user community, audit professionals, quality control, and software developers. The exploration of the steps required to meet the objectives of agile development will be included through the open ended survey questions within this document. Participation in the study involves the completion of this survey with the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=y7W5yfCxgaAzBEnoyUMsjw_3d_3d. The questionnaire package should take approximately 25 minutes to complete, and it is important that each question be answered as honestly as possible for the research to be of significant value. Participation in the study is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from participating in the study now, or at any point while completing the questionnaire (particularly if you experience distress). Once data are collected, your results will form part of a larger database, from which only group data will be reported. Only the researchers (Michael Bird, Dr. John Whitlock, and the Capella Dissertation Committee) will have access to the raw data. Returning the completed questionnaire indicates that you understand the nature of the research and freely consent to participating in the study. Detailed summary of the results will be available towards the end of the year. Participants interested in receiving this information are asked to contact Michael Bird for a summary to be posted out. Thank you for your time and consideration in participating in the present study http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=y7W5yfCxgaAzBEnoyUMsjw_3d_3d.
