We know from past experience that it takes a good 3 months of hard advertising to get people to sign up/commit/get approval from their managers...and with the current economic environment...not sure we'll have a good response this early in the year when companies are holding on tight to the purse strings. I have been checking with various speakers...to ensure appropriate PM representation this time...and Dr. Brown seems very eager to work with us...I do like his proposal except for the price point. Since we are blessed with a healthy balance in our account....what do you all think about having this one day event (just PMI chapter) for May since he is available...but have the chapter pay part of the tuition for current/actual chapter members? ________________________________ From: Dr. James T Brown [mailto:jtbrown at sebasolutions.com] Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2009 8:23 AM To: Mills-Long, Alison Subject: RE: PMI Columbus, GA Chapter Hello Alison! They are a very small chapter and we tend to get 25 to 30 people for courses. I have done four of these with them over the past three years. 4. Please note that I handle all registration and payment through my website. a. You advertise on yours and provide the site for the event. b. I send your chapter a check at the end of the event. c. Thanks for getting this information to me so quickly. I will not share with anyone else...promise. I am excited that you are offering us a discount off your normal price...but am heartbroken because we still cannot afford the reduced price. We only made $4,200 off our event last year and that barely covered our expenses. Our audience is only 30-40 people locally...so we are challenged with providing this type of event. Do you have a "take pity on" clause for little organizations??? It is worth many times more than this amount to see you in person....I wish we had a big budget to work with. Would you consider doing some sort of remote presentation via internet? I use a slick suite of streaming video tools for my side business. I broadcast and recorded our chapter meeting last week...it's posted on our web site at www.pmicolumbusga.org and I didn't even use the full functionality. Of course I wouldn't set it up to record in this case as you mention that specifically in your agreement. If you would give this some thought I would greatly appreciate it...you are an awesome speaker and I don't want to give up trying to get you here somehow! Thanks!
